Summer Øf 2001.

I've always loved my summer holidays during school, the cricket/soccer matches, the PlayStation, the world of wrestling entertainment, always seemed to speed up time. One fine after noon my classmates and I decided to play a match of cricket at a local 'park'.And by park I mean,an arid waste space, whose whole area could be covered in or under five minutes on foot.Anyhow, after five to six hours of physically tiring ourselves,we'd decided to go home. But,just then,I noticed something just up north of our park, something really uncanny and unperceived. From where I was standing it looked like some dome with a huge pipe sticking out of it.After a long conversational debate,we decided to pay our mysterious freak of a structure a curious yet a gingerly visit.
It was around 5 PM when we started towards the structure and apparently out of no where our schoolmates from section-C and section-B{We were from section-A and collectively they were around 20 people and we were 5.} appeared before us.{Was it coincidence or was it fate?}We were like "Hey!!What are you guys doing here at this time?"And they replied by saying,"We've come to explore a laboratory, which we heard is haunted!"I've heard of a haunted house before, but a laboratory? My sudden thirst for exploration gave goosebumps all over my body, unfortunately, the same feeling wasn't shared by my mates.I could clearly see the expression of tremor across their faces.Since,I was insanely persistent back then,so,I managed to drag them along with the other people somehow.
After the 20 minute gradual walk,we'd finally reached our destination at around 6 PM.And what we saw thereafter forced us all to take every step to be thought of our last.It was one of the most ghastly panorama I ever witnessed! Not only did I get to see a broken down laboratory{With a dome and a telescope!!!},it was alongside a broken down house and also a very huge graveyard.Wow,I felt I was in a horror movie or something.I Was just waiting for leather-face to come out and make me famous!!{Of course,I have to be the lone survivor for that to happen hehe}Anyhow,to our surprise there was actually an old watchman patrolling around the graveyard entrance. After mustering up enough mettle,I decided to ask the old man about that place.Obviously,I kept a considerable distance between us.{I don't want my head to end up at my feet now do I?}To my disappointment, all the old man said was "Be gone!!You people don't belong here."
People say,"Ignorance is bliss"{Talk about the banality of proverbs eh?} and I was extremely happy that we all ignored the old man's words. As we went on with our quest of exploration with divided groups,{Two groups to be exact, one for the laboratory and one for the house. And none for the graveyard hehe}I was again disappointed not to find any skeletons or eerie spirits at all!All our group found was a huge network of well-spun spider webs all over the place.Well at least it was fun to watch the arachnophobic people in our group freak out when ever they got entangled in a huge spider web. While walking out of the house,I was wondering what was the 'Laboratory Group" up to.To my horror,I saw them running for their lives! Not from ghouls or headless zombies, but from a rabid pack of dogs!!On seeing that, our whole group too ran frantically, each associate was trying to find an opening through the mayhem. No matter how valorous we all were that evening, the phantasm of receiving a set of injections on our bellies didn't seem to be such a delightful foresight.I guess it's every man for himself when a pack of dogs are hell-bent on having a bite off us!
After escaping the near-carnage,the next morning we all came to know that among the so 25 people, only one was bitten by the hungering hounds.{Hungering hounds,in the victim's words.I am quite sure it was just one dog which bit him, otherwise he wouldn't have been alive today. If rabies didn't kill him,the multiple sets of injections would've for sure}After hearing the news, the first thought that came to my mind was "Geez! What a bad day to smell like steak."All in all,it turned out to be one of the most exciting days of my life. And at the end of it all,I am confident to say,Bryan Adams' "Summer of '69" doesn't even come close to my "Summer of 2001".[^_^]
